John Hastings: The Millstone

John Hastings: Born and brought up in Kirkcudbright, Scotland, I went on to pursue a career in town planning in the UK and Hong Kong. After a 26 year stint in Hong Kong I returned to UK in 2004 to Ryhall, Stamford in Lincolnshire but I still maintain close links with my native Kirkcudbright where my mother still lives. I am a relative newcomer to painting but follow in the footsteps of my late father Jack Hastings a well known Kirkcudbright artist who exhibited in the Royal Scottish Academy. My inspiration arises from attempting to depict on canvas the many facets of light in the landscape, the sky and the built environment.
